CADI BLOG 2010
Welcome to the Cadi Blog 2010
The CADI BLOG will be the site where you get information regarding what to write about each week in your own blogs. Your ALVC class will be divided up into two groups, A and B. Group A will blog on weeks 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10, (at least 400 words plus images, etc), while group B will blog on weeks 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. On the weeks that you're not blogging you'll need to add comments to the blogs of at least 4 other students (100 words for each comment).
In week 1 you'll need to set up your own blog in blogspot.com (you'll need to get a google account first as blogspot uses the same account number/password). Then read the CADIBLOG2010 blog each week to find out what the focus of your blog/comments will be. These will relate to the concepts discussed in the ALVC class - and exhibitions that we'll visit throughout the year.

ReplyDelete1. What are the themes behind the title "Last ride...' for the Auckland triennial?
ReplyDeleteThe title 'Last ride in Hot Air Balloon,it elicits the adventurous impulse from us.
In my mind, an air balloon symbolises one of sound of transportations to escape me from the society.
Most of the people are likely to leave from a rountine place to somewhere by aeroplane. why? because when we rise in the sky, it makes us feel more light-hearted.
However, the adventrue always does not have an attraction.
We need to consider these as economic recession and a financial problem are the general two examples. Despite known these reasons, people desire to be sitmulated the motivation for adventurous exploration.
This exhibition explores adventure and risk within the range of art even though we have faced enviroment today.
2. What does a curator of an exhibition do?
A curator is a director in a museam or art gallery if i define it simply.
The role of carator is to introduce the themes of an exhibition to the people as well as they help the viewer to be able to communicate with artists.
Futhermore, they have acquired professional knowledges of art as being a curator in oder to make a plan for exhibition.
The conservation of these objects in the exhibition is also one of the major works of them.
3. Which countries are represented in this year's triennial?
The 2010 Auckland Triennial has focused on an equable axis over the world.

4. Is Auckland the only country to have a triennial? Are there other similar art shows?
In 2006, I went to Gwangju which is one of the cities in korea because there was a famous exhibition in there.
It is namely Gwang-ju biennale in my country. It is a similar art show as Auckland triennial. That is held every 2 years to open biennale and there was plentiful works in the mix of artists. It was the great opportunity for me to gain various skills in comtemporary art. One of the outstanding features is that was not just looking around inside gallery, the one part of areas was displayed by artifacts.
Even fences and notice boards were nice objects to reflect my own ideas, so through them I could learn about comtemporary art.
Many artists had participated in Gwang-ju biennale when I looked at their artifacts such as painting and sculpture.
The 2006 Gwang-ju biennale is not only for helping me to broaden my horrizons in comtemporary art but also for enhancing the quality of life.

7. Comment on why you find this work interesting, how does it relate to your own interests?
Philippe Parreno's Atlas of Clouds (2005) neon sculpture is one of my favorite works from website. In the general, sculpture shows a statical feature but this work has interesting movements on a wall when the swich is turned on.
That is a reason why I have chosen it. The form of open book depicts dynamically.
This work consists of three materials namely neon light, transformers and switchers.
He frequently mixed images with cutting edge technology meanwhile he often played a filmmaker. Neon light leads to the atmosphere in the harmony to modenity's art. In his work our eye is drawn a book and clouds at the same time, this book shows the title which is 'stories are propaganda' written at the bottom of the neon book. As for what its titile has the meaning I thinked about it.
I think there is no denying the development of media can been seen as an epoch-making invention in the comtemporary era. Nevertheless, the media has detrimental effects on humans, for instance, many books tend to distort the reality sometimes.
As a result, the vulnerable people are unable to distinguish between wrong and right.
His intention is to ask us about it almost, all the information can be inaccurate and
this sulpture allows people to have more time to think about the worse enviroment.
In the recent, I have drawn the portrait with the beautiful clouds because the clouds make me feel more comfortable. Therefore, it has related to my interests.
I am also interested in visual arts something happend in the same place is a quite attraction for me and making sculpture by neon light is one of the fascinating factors.
Shilpta Gupta 'Singing Cloud' 2000, steel and microphones. When i first saw this work. it made me feel kind of uncomfortable and asking to myself "What is that thing". Then i listened to the different noise from different microphone. Instantly, the word freedom and hope came to my mind. This work impressed me because Shilpta Gupta could communicate through her work quite very well.
ReplyDeleteMoreover, when i look down at the shadow of 1000 of microphones. It looks like some creepy living thing and made me fear somehow.
This work is conceptual for me. It made me think a lot of thing such as poor people , terrorist , monster, ritual , and politics exploitation.
